#5 - Month 1 - Decide early on books & resources you want to use when you have unexpected questions

At 2 am when the baby just won’t stop crying, my partner and I wondered who or what we could ask for help. We couldn’t always just talk to a doctor at any time when we had an immediate question. We found it helpful to find many resources we could rely on when we had unexpected questions or concerns.

An OB, midwife, and/or doula are also a great resource for questions. Doulas and midwives are available by phone most of the time. Asking friends and family is also a great option. People who have experience can give great recommendations and opinions to help on the pregnancy journey.

Books and blogs are also great resources. We liked Emily Oster's Expecting Better, the Expecting Science blog, and Armin A. Brott’s The Expectant Father. Some other quick resources that always came in handy were (and still are) the “Fatherly” and “Motherly” blogs, and the Mayoclinic website.
