Before we even started thinking about what type of bottle nipples, diaper brands, baby proofing, OBs (obstetrician-gynecologist) or midwives, home birth or hospital birth, my partner and I set up an appointment with a primary care physician. This is a crucial first step and can set us up for the rest of the pregnancy. At this first doctor appointment the pregnancy can be confirmed with a blood or urine test. The physician also provides basic resources and can answer questions, to make the process less overwhelming. It was great that both my partner and I could attend this first doctor's visit so we could both ask questions.
